About the Vice President

Dr. Gholamhossein Gharekhani serves as the Vice President for Education and Graduate Studies at the University of Maragheh. He is a Full Professor and a distinguished faculty member of the Faculty of Agriculture, where he has been actively engaged in teaching, research, and academic service for many years.

Academic Background

Dr. Gharekhani holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Entomology from the University of Hohenheim, Germany (2005–2010), one of Europe's leading institutions in agricultural sciences. His doctoral thesis focused on modeling population dynamics and dispersal of the codling moth (*Cydia pomonella* L.), a major pest in apple orchards worldwide.

He also earned his M.Sc. in Agricultural Entomology (1996–1999) and his B.Sc. in Plant Protection (1991–1995) from the University of Tabriz, one of Iran's premier institutions in the field of agriculture and plant sciences.

Research Contributions

Dr. Gharekhani's research interests encompass entomology, insect ecology, biological control, pest management, and population ecology. He has made significant contributions to the development and application of life table research tools, including the widely recognized TWOSEX-MSChart software for age-stage, two-sex life table analysis.

His scholarly output includes numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers published in international venues. He has collaborated with researchers from around the world, reflecting his commitment to advancing agricultural science through international partnerships.

Administrative Leadership

Dr. Gharekhani brings extensive administrative experience to his current role. Prior to his appointment as Vice President for Education and Graduate Studies, he held several key leadership positions at the University of Maragheh, including:

- Director of Research and Technology** at the University of Maragheh
- Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture**
- Head of the Agricultural College Complex**
