History and Status

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Maragheh, as one of the main and relatively young faculties of the university, officially began its activities in 2009 by admitting students in two programs: Civil Engineering and Materials and Metallurgy Engineering. Alongside the three other faculties (Agriculture, Basic Sciences, and Humanities) and one research center (Astronomy and Astrophysics), it forms the core structure of the University of Maragheh. As the largest higher education institution in the south of East Azerbaijan Province, the university is situated on a 110-hectare campus.

One of the notable achievements of this faculty is its outstanding performance at both national and international levels. In 2021, the Faculty of Engineering was ranked among the top 5 engineering faculties in Iran and ranked 201–300 globally in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by subject. This unprecedented success reflects the high academic and research standing of the faculty on the international stage. Furthermore, the University of Maragheh was ranked among the top 20 comprehensive universities in Iran in the ISC ranking system in 2019.

Development and Equipment: To enhance the quality of education and research, a budget of over 31,870,000,000 IRR has been allocated for the development and equipping of the university's laboratories. Additionally, plans are underway to establish specialized accredited laboratories at the university.
